All artists are in constant battle with our ego.  We create something from the heart or have a vision in which we want to share, and have to be prepared for the positive and negative feedback that comes our way.  This is the love/hate relationship all of us must experience during the process of free exchange.  To build or create something unique that is true to self is very difficult to achieve.  It takes a great deal of thought and repetition to achieve this goal.  I find it interesting when I meet an artist who has put in the hours to become a master at their craft, taste success and remain balanced.

Diego Miranda is a professional editorial hairstylist that currently works at the famous Roy Teeluck Salon in New York City.  I met Diego last year through close friend and tattoo artist Luke Wessman and have developed a great deal of respect for his character and artistic vision.  Starting his career as a professional hairstylist in France, Diego built his foundation on forward thinking style, working within the fashion industry.  His passion to create led him on a path to move overseas to the United States where he developed a niche for himself working with the industries top models and photographers. The photo above of Diego with his Kelp Kids is the epitome of the phrase “Family First”.  For more information on Diego Miranda please visit www.diegomiranda.us

I see things in color….When I walk down the street I look high and low for hidden tags and doodads…I find beauty in imperfection…I had a dream of an orange whale…we would cruise throughout the sea… New pocket t-shirt for women.  The message is simple… explore and dare to think outside of the box PMA.

Exchange…inspire…create

Monstro and the Kelp Kids are my family and true passion.  They reflect all my life experiences and include all the people and material that have been introduced to me since I was a kid.  I am excited to share the news that the first Monstrinho clothing line will be displayed at Project in Las Vegas from August 20 – 22. We will be showcased alongside LA based jewelry designer and style jedi Jacqueline Nicole Brown owner of JNB Jewelry .  Please stop by and say hello, or if you are going to be at Project or Magic please contact us at info@monstrinho.com.

The Monstrinho collection consists of both adult and children clothing and is available in the online shop in a limited color palette.  The picture above is a glimpse of one of our Summer Tank Tops showcasing the character Fins.  As you can tell the ocean is always on his mind.  Be on the look out for new color and style releases as we cruise throughout the summer.  Thank you for visiting the site, I hope what you see brings a smile to your face.

I would like to thank everyone who came out to support Marcelo Macedo, Michael Cursed and I.  The opening of Terra D’agua was a positive experience, and it was nice to connect with some new people.  In case you missed it, the show will be on display until the 26th.  On March 1st, Marcelo and I will be heading up to Portland for the opening at the Hellion Gallery in Oregon.  I am looking forward to visiting this awesome city and meeting new people.  There will be a separate body of work displayed by all three of us.  Thank you again and if you have any friends or family in Portland, please introduce us.

The good people at the Hellion Gallery in Portland have put together an incredible lineup for their upcoming show In League on February 3rd.  The show will consist of collaborations from a talented group of peeps.  I am thankful to be part of this show and was paired with artist Taka Sudo

Taka’s style is pure flow and has a ton of soul.  I tried to incorporate a character that held true to this funky flow and interact with Taka.  I am looking forward to doing more collabo stuff with Taka in the future…..perhaps some wall action.  If your in Portland come through and say hello.
