Little Monster sighting sent to us from New York. All smiles and ready to take on the world. Happy New Year!
I recently reconnected with an old childhood friend who asked me to paint a piece for his kids room. He explained that his little guy was having some fear issues and would get scared to sleep in his room by himself every now and then. When I was a little kid I used to suffer from night terrors and had a difficult time sleeping. I remember having wallpaper themed after the nursery rhyme hey diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon… For some reason or another I had a deep fear of the spoons and would have my parents cover them on my wall so I could sleep. I remember placing all my stuffed animals on my bed and figured they would defend me in case any nursery rhyme folk decided to take it to me. I decided to write “I will protect you” as a reminder to his son that he has a guardian that is willing to defend him under any circumstances. There is nothing like having a giant Emperor Penguin as a bodyguard when you are a kid. Thank you Blake I thoroughly enjoyed working on this one, brought back a lot of memories.
Looking forward to this group show next Saturday at Green Flash Gallery in Cardiff. 2011 has been a good year and I am grateful for all the people in my life and all the new people I have met. A good way to end the year, so if you are in the neighborhood stop by and check out some fresh art. You just might find a gift that beats the infamous glowing leg lamp in Christmas Story.
I recently started working at Hellion gallery on Sundays in downtown San Diego. Hellion was started in Portland, Oregon by Matt Wagner and has consistently supported artists and been responsible for some unique shows in Japan, San Diego as well as Portland. We have some cool events on deck for the upcoming New Year and currently have a wide spectrum of unique affordable prints from artists from Japan to the States. Come by and say hello and for more info check out the website http://www.helliongallery.com/. 433 3rd Avenue San Diego, California

Just got back from working on a wall project for the good people at Bunger Surf and Skate Shop in Sayville, Long Island. I teamed up with these guys over the summer to work on a project and design a special edition board. We released fifty of these boards this past weekend and Bunger put together a two day skate event starting with FiveBorough NYC demo. The kids really brought it on both days, pushing each other to try new tricks and bust out some old ones. I am honored to be representing the Bunger family. Thank you guys I look forward to seeing you all in December. There are about ten decks remaining, so if you would like one for your collection contact Bunger’s http://www.bungersayville.com/
Looking forward to this event this weekend in San Clemente. The world tour has been amazing this year, especially after this past event in my hometown of New York. What better way to get ready for Trestles then a festival dedicated to shredding the gnar gnar with a positive message and great cause. I am going to have a booth and will be sharing some of my work and have some gear for the groms.
Tangerines and Monster Dreams will highlight the combined energy and thought process of two artists who have become good friends through a shared creative vision. The vision is simple…share and spread love through the power of unique imagery. Bold and vibrant colors, hidden messages with a hint of fantasy and some stellar collaborations will be incorporated into this show. Both Glow and I have been building on unique styles and concepts on both wall and canvas mediums. In this show I plan on sharing the birth and metamorphosis of Monstrinho starting with the character Angelface…”the mother of creation”…
Monstrinho Onesies are now available at Mimi and Red www.mimiandred.com and Surfy Surfy www.surfysurfy.com. These shops are based in San Diego California and are locally owned and operated. There will be a limited amount available in the Monstrinho store soon so keep your eyes open.
